It Takes More Than Just Cleaning To Sell Your Home
If your home is on the market, keeping it clean is only one of the steps you must take to make sure it sells.
There is a new movement in home-selling called home staging. This is a growing profession that is now offered through many real estate agencies who use this service to spruce up homes before a sale.
Should you buy into the idea of having your home staged? Statistics say that staged homes sell in half the amount of time and for more money.
Anyone can get their home staged, not just ones with money to spend. If you still aren’t convinced, look online to find some staged properties. You can tour places online that have been staged. View empty properties that have been taken back by the bank or homes that have been abandoned by their owners. Toys lying around and random items on the floor can be distracting and take away from the home.
An example of a staged home is the model home in new development. Even if the furniture isn’t your taste, most people agree that model homes are impressive. The rooms will be furnished enough to let you know their potential and may have such supporting decor as fresh flowers, table settings, etc. Even if you have different plans for the room, most people find it easier to judge the room’s size when there is furniture inside.
Even if you think you can tackle the job yourself, realize it can be much tougher than you think. Because we live with our homes every day, we often accept the flaws that other people would notice. They become such a part of our lives that making the changes that will help it appeal to other people could be a struggle.
Just spending the cost of a consultation, which would help you see the areas that need work, could be enough to convince you of the need for staging with the potential of thousands of dollars to be made.
If you would like to have your home staged, but your agent has not suggested it, you should mention it to them. Even if the service isn’t readily available in your area, chances are good that professional contacts can make a professional home stager available.
While it might seem difficult to live in a staged home, some of the changes they suggest are likely to be ones you’d make any way like minor repairs or spruced up landscaping. They might suggest getting rid of clutter.
